HISD Utilizes Texas Standard Response Protocol (PDF opens in new window)

In the event of an emergency at your student’s school, HISD uses the Texas Standard Response Protocol for situations including:

  • Hold: Students are trained to clear hallways and remain in their area or room, doors locked, until “All Clear” is announced.
  • Secure: Students are trained to return to the inside of the building and all outside doors are locked, until “All Clear” is announced.
  • Lockdown: Students are trained to remain in rooms, away from sight, maintain silence, and do not open doors.
  • Shelter: Students are secured inside the building in the event of a weather or hazardous material event.
  • Evacuation: Students are trained to leave their belongings behind (except phone if possible), and follow further instructions.

During an emergency event, parents will be notified via the District’s notification system (Parent Square). Please make sure your student/family information is updated and correct in Skyward as the Parent Square notification system utilizes the phone numbers stored in Skyward. Please not that you must contact the school office in order to update your contact information stored in Skyward.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your school’s administration.
