HISD Bond 2024

Bond Proposal Approved by Hallettsville ISD Board of Trustees

HALLETTSVILLE, Texas — The Hallettsville Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved calling a School Bond Election for May 4, 2024.

“It’s been 10 years since we had a bond passed in Hallettsville ISD,” Superintendent Dr. Jo Ann Bludau said. “We’ve taken the time to carefully consider all options and identify the needs of the students we serve that this bond proposal helps address.”

Texas school districts do not receive state funding for renovating or building new schools. Instead, they must receive funds through school bond elections. The 2024 Bond will ask voters to consider a $39.37 million package in three propositions.

Proposition A

  • District-Wide Safety and Security

Proposition B

  • Junior High Additions and Renovations

Proposition C

  • Athletics Facility Upgrades

If voters approve $39.37 million for all three propositions in May, the estimated impact would be $10.75 per month for a home valued at $205,308, the average market value for a home in Hallettsville ISD.

Recent legislation delivered the largest property tax cut in Texas history. The combination of compression and the $100,000 homestead exemption cut school district property taxes for homeowners around the state.

Since 2019, state law requires all bond propositions for any school district to have the phrase “THIS IS A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE” on all ballot language for bond propositions. Homeowners age 65 & older who have filed for and received the Over 65 exemption will not see an increase over their frozen dollar amount. Check your most recent Notice of Assessed Value Change to see if you will be impacted.

“We want to make sure that our community is well-informed with the facts surrounding this bond proposal,” Dr. Bludau said. “We will be contacting everyone by mail, email, and social media with factual information about the bond propositions.”

More information about the bond projects, financial impact, and voting locations will be available on the district website at hisdbrahmas.org/bond2024.
